I need to know if when replacing an electric water heater thermostat with a screw compatible one (not exactly the same thermostat). Do I have to worry about the ground and power wires going into the right place or can they be reversed without problem. If you don’t know the difference between these wires and want to tell me it is AC and symetrical please refrain from answering. It is about the thermostat at the bottom of the water heater, not the one with the Reset button.
